CoHo Appz logo update
Date: October 5, 2026.
The supplied logo replaces visible CoHo Appz text branding. The application name beside it is World Backup; the Windows application is World Backup Companion. This is a display change, not a change to settings, installed application paths, archive names, or download filenames.
What changed
| Location | Result |
|---|---|
| Website header | CoHo Appz logo beside World Backup and the Minecraft description. |
| Website publisher notice | Logo replaces CoHo Appz text when the configured publisher name is CoHo Appz, ignoring case and surrounding spaces. Other publisher names remain text. Existing contact links and the non-affiliation notice remain visible. |
| Windows companion | Embedded logo in the heading; short application name in its heading, window title, tray menu, and messages. Other configured publishers remain identified below the heading. |
| Website styling | Proportional logo sizes for desktop and mobile, wrapping header, and updated CSS cache version. |
| Product identity | Full assembly metadata, page-title identity, publisher configuration, installer names, executable names, and companion ZIP filename remain compatible. |
The two PNG files are byte-for-byte copies of the supplied 1254 × 1254 image. Its colors, background, lettering, and artwork are unchanged. Web images use alt="CoHo Appz"; the companion image has the same accessible name. The favicon, tray icon, and backup illustration continue to use the existing generic folder artwork.
Image locations:
src/Mcs.Web/wwwroot/images/CoHoAppzLogo3D.pngsrc/Mcs.Companion/Branding/CoHoAppzLogo3D.png
Mcs.Companion.csproj embeds the latter with resource name Mcs.Companion.CoHoAppzLogo3D.png. It does not need a loose PNG beside the published EXE. The form clones the loaded image before closing its resource stream and disposes its owned image when the form is disposed.
Apply the Visual Studio patch
Use the separately supplied CoHo-Appz-World-Backup-Logo-Patch.zip for your existing solution. Extract it separately, close Visual Studio, run Apply-Patch.cmd, and enter the solution folder containing src/Mcs.Web. The script stages its merges before writing, preserves line endings and UTF-8 BOMs, and backs up changed existing files beside your solution. It also records new files for rollback. If a source fragment has been customized, it stops before writing; review SOURCE-CHANGES.patch and merge that edit yourself.
The patch does not replace framework targets, publishing profiles, web.config, appsettings.json, or publisher.json. Preserve your real publisher contact details. It does not deploy to SmarterASP.NET or restart your site. It is based on the last supplied source with the reconnect changes; for an older solution, apply the earlier IIS/reconnect patches first or use the updated full source after transferring your local configuration.
Build and publish
- Reopen CoHo-Appz-World-Backup.sln in Visual Studio 2022. Build Release and run
scripts/Validate.ps1on your Windows development PC. - Start the web application locally and verify the header and publisher logo at desktop and narrow mobile widths. Verify the real contact links and non-affiliation notice.
- Start the Windows companion and check the logo at your normal display scaling and at 150% scaling. Check the window title, notification-area menu, folder buttons, and pairing controls. The form can scroll if needed.
- Republish both the website and companion. The existing recommended
scripts/Publish.ps1builds both and packages the companion; supply your actual publisher contact as documented indocs/DEPLOYMENT.md. For Visual Studio publishing, use your existing web profile and Folder / Release / self-contained / win-x64 for the companion. - Upload the full web publish output, including
wwwroot/images/CoHoAppzLogo3D.png. Keep the working out-of-process IIS configuration and real contact settings. - Replace the old hosted companion package with the complete newly published CoHo-Appz-World-Backup-Companion-win-x64.zip at
/WorldBackup/App_Data/Downloads/CoHo-Appz-World-Backup-Companion-win-x64.zip. Package the published runtime, EXE, publisher settings, installer scripts, and notices as described in the deployment guide; the source archive is not that installer download. - Refresh the website with Ctrl+F5. Download/install the new companion on a test PC to verify the distributed logo. Existing installed companions need updating to display it.
The source ZIP contains source and image assets, not a compiled Windows application. Publisher contact fields in the full source remain unconfigured until you supply your real details.
Verification and rollback
Completed during preparation: PNG hash matching, image/resource path checks, project XML checks, unchanged backup/restore, hosting and reconnect implementation checks, patch replay/idempotence checks, and integrity checks for both ZIP archives. The environment has no .NET SDK, PowerShell, or Windows desktop, so compilation, actual Windows patch execution, and live visual/deployment checks require your local system.
To roll back an applied patch, restore the files from the timestamped CoHo-Appz-World-Backup-Logo-Backups folder and remove the files listed in its ADDED-FILES.txt. Rebuild and republish both applications if the updated builds were deployed. Preserve the backup folder until local validation is complete.
